Mold health problems can be the cause of great concern because in many instances people are not even aware of what is causing the problem. There are many medical conditions that can be created or exacerbated by mold. There are also some other health problems that are believed to be caused by mold but there is not enough evidence to prove the connection. In the rest of this article I will examine some of the possible dangers of mold.
One of the common mold health problems is caused by people having an allergic reaction. In those people who are prone to allergies there can be a real risk of been negatively impacted by mold. Even if the mold is up in the attic it can still cause allergic reaction because of the fact that it is easily made airborne. Allergic reactions can include such things as; rashes, runny noses, nasal congestion, cough, or eye irritation. Those people who suffer from asthma may find that their conditions are made a lot worse by having mold in the house.
Another of the mold health problems is the risk of infection. This only tends to occur with those people who already have compromised immune systems; for instance, if a person is having chemotherapy and they are exposed to mold then there is a big risk that they could develop Aspergillus or similar infection. These infections tend to affect the lungs, eyes, and skin.
Toxic poisoning can also be caused from mold. It is only a small number of the molds that can cause toxic but the symptoms can be really unpleasant. It seems to be children who are most impacted by toxic mold; one reason for this is that their active lifestyle means they are more likely to come in contact with the mold. Signs of toxicity include; irritation to the eyes and lungs, fatigue, nausea, and headaches. These symptoms can be occurring over a long period before the mold is discovered.
Above are just some of the possible mold health problems; there are more suspected. If you or members of your family are experiencing regular sickness that seems to be without explanation then it would be wise to check for mold. In fact all of us should be checking for mold to ensure that it never becomes a problem for our loved ones or ourselves. If we leave mold to grow for too long it can be hard and expensive to eradicate.
