Many online entrepreneurs that use Resale Rights products to build their business find the product licenses to be unclear and difficult to understand.

Ambiguous or conflicting terms often crop up when the author has not put enough thought into the terms and conditions applied to the Resale Rights product.

In the terms and conditions of some Resale Rights books the author states that the book can be used as a free bonus. Go to www.guide-to-plr.com he or she then goes on to say something like “Cannot be given away under any circumstances”.

The author’s intent, if not his language, are clear,

The product cannot be used in a transaction where no money changes hands

The product can be given away as a bonus item to a product that a customer has paid for

Another common ambiguity concerns “brandable” Resale Rights products. These are products that allow you to change the target of some or all of the links the product contains, usually to an affiliate page for another product by the same author.

The confusion arises when the author first states in the terms and conditions that the product is “brandable” and then says something like “You cannot edit, modify or alter (product) under any circumstances”.

Again, the intent is clear, even if the language is not,

You may change links where the alteration will benefit both you and the author

You may not alter the substance of the product

When conflicting or ambiguous rules are imposed in a Resale Rights book common sense should prevail, but If you are in doubt about the meaning of the terms and conditions, contact the author.

Occasionally the terms imposed by the author are just not reasonable. The terms in one ebook on the market demand that the book be sold for a very high specified price and only on Clickbank.

The terms of another product, software this time, state that the seller must provide product support for the product to anyone he or she sells it to.

In cases like this it is best to simply by-pass the particular product, or if you really want to sell it, contact the author for clarification of the terms.

While the terms and conditions of Resale Rights licenses may sometimes be confusing most of the time the author is only trying to protect the value of his or her work. Go to www.private-label-contents-riches.com this is good for everyone that sells Resale Rights products. Never ignore the terms and conditions. If you can’t live with them, contact the author and ask for a change or clarification.

Most authors will be reasonable and may even thank you for pointing out a Resale Rights condition that he or she did not intend. If the author does agree to a change, get it in writing. If he or she will not change the license, don’t ignore the terms, instead, just don’t sell the product.

About the Author:
List building is something that should be done with an eye on quality. You can brag all you want about how many names you have on your list, but if my list of 1700 outperforms your list of 17,000, then your list is really not any better than mine.
