Those who have huge credit card debts are advised to use balance transfer offers that certainly cave a large sum of money. Still they can be a very risky thing. On the one hand you can profit from rather low interest rates and pay of your debt during the intro period. But on the other hand everything can happen not the way you have expected. So, balance transfer credit cards can be a great choice for you in the process of eliminating credit card debts. Before you make up your mind to transfer your credit card debt to another card, you should be aware of the main rules of this game.

First, let's study out what a balance transfer means. It is the act of transferring your higher-rate balance to another card with low interest rate. Everything seems to be perfect at first sight but it sometimes happens so that customers make mistakes and it results in more financial problems.

Balance transfer credit card offers are divided into two types – low fixed rate plastics and those that offer 0% APR on balance transfer for a certain period of time. In spite of the fact that such cards offer lower rates but some of them have a balance transfer fee. Choose the ones that don't have it and save a lot. Zero interest credit cards can be of great help in this case, too.

It is worth while mentioning that most balance transfer credit cards are created for those whose credit is close to perfect. So you are lucky to find plastics that offer zero rates for a long period of time.

It is also a good idea to apply for a credit card that offers 0% APR both on purchases and balance transfer. It's a common mistake among most consumers to make purchases with their balance transfer card. Don't think that you will save money in this case as most 0% balance transfer offers have a rather high rate on purchases.

When you choose a balance transfer offers don't be in a hurry. Think over the way you are going to pay off your balance. Find out and plan how much money you will be able to pay monthly, whether you will have enough time to pay off the debt or not. Read carefully the terms and conditions and fill out the application form. After the issuer's approval take advantage of the card to the full.
